It's all well and good promoting the new craft cooperative (Espace Créateur, 7 Place des Corps Saints, Avignon) via the blog, but it would be so much better if I do a little show and tell with the new bags that I have in there!
This big bag is a very sturdy canvas embellished with genuine fake Finnish yak hair. So soft and touchable...Lined with a vibrant yellow cotton to add a little sunshine to this wintery creation.
Also in the photo, thick and dreamy hand knitted scarf "heart made for you"
While we are on the subject of yellow, here is an infinity loop. Soft grey wool on one side and thick yellow cotton on the reverse. There are quite a few of these scarfs around at the moment which is hardly surprising when you see just how versatile and easy-to-wear they are.
Also in the photo; black bamboo top by Phao, Stainless steel necklace by Inox & Brelok and Kakemono on the wall by Startruc.
A new Big Bag. Around 50 buttons firmly sewn and individually knotted, hand embroidery for the tree....more to come!
Spring is almost here, i saw the first blossom yesterday, so i think it's time to officially bring out the spring/summer collection of bags.
Buttonophilie + years of rummaging through random habadashery boxes in yard sales has resulted in a rather large collection of full jam jars. i'm hoping to use up some of these buttons in order to make room for more.
The fabric used for these Big Bags is a double sided herringbone cotton, there is a light finishing which makes them both sturdy and showerproof. All of the buttons have been firmly handsewn and individually knotted...a very lengthy but satisfiying process.
They are available at the craft fairs
"En Folie" 23 Rue St Michel, Avignon every saturday from 10h to 19h
The craft fairs in the Rues des Teinturiers, Avignon. every 2nd Sunday of the month (next one 13th February)
it all started on a sunday morning with a piece of lace that had been preciously wrapped in tissue paper in a drawer for 10 years. i love the art nouveau style of the flowers and i'm completely in awe of the hard work some crafter put in to this hand made piece. i started thinking of slow craft, an opportunity to really take the time to enjoy the textures and colours of the materials used. 5 hours later i was ironing this finished bag...a pure bliss afternoon.
it's been a while since i made myself a bag. This one began life as a pair of suit trousers and my favorite ever red cords, a little white paint incident meant i could no longer wear the cords, so the garments became a cushion cover, after a short stay at the botton of the cupboard and a chance meeting with some dee-lish vintage cotton the bag was born and i'm keeping it!
merci beaucoup à la p'tite josette, you make a very elegant model.
